It’s a beautiful, sunny, October morning here in Beach Haven – AND the FIRST DAY OF THE 70TH LBI SURF CLASSIC!! Winds have finally settled down and are coming from the NE at about 4mph. The surf has also finally settled down and is relatively calm with 3-4 foot waves. You will need about 4-5oz to hold again. Atlantic City buoy sea temperature is reported at 70°. The air temp is currently 63° and heading to 73°.
The bay is flat calm and 69°.
Low tide is at 3:48AM and 4:23PM. High tide is at 9:54AM and 10:07PM.

The 70th Annual LBI Surf Classic starts today!! For the next 9 weeks you have the opportunity to win some $$ each day! Make sure you register at one of the island bait shops – Here at Jingles, Surf City Bait & Tackle, or Fisherman’s Headquarters. This year, along with you hat, you get a goodie bag, including some “stuff” and coupons to our local sponsors of the tournament. For nine weeks, the costs is only $40 for adults and $20 for juniors (under 17).
The surf has finally calmed down but all week anglers have still been picking up some bluefish. And of course the fluke are still around but not in season any longer. The surf has kingfish too. Bluefish and Kingfish are also money winners for the tournament! In the bay there are definitely blowfish and some weakfish! Up at the lighthouse there are bluefish and tog and if you work hard, possibly a striper!
