It’s a sunny and cool but mild, morning here in Beach Haven today. Winds are mild from the NW at about 5mph. Currently, the surf is relatively calm with 1-2 foot waves. You will need 3-4 oz to hold. LBI 5th Street Beach Haven sea temperature is 50°. The air temp is currently 45° and heading to 52°.
The bay is calm and 48°.
Low tide is at 5:35AM and 5:26PM. High tide is at 11:29AM and 11:49PM.
Saw quite of few fish caught off the surf yesterday – but non weighed in for the derby. There were stripers and black drum. Stripers on bloodworms and clams. Capt. Jon Kelly said he had an epic April night on the surf!
Spring Derby is under way and there have been some nice sized striped bass already – but NO WEIGH-INS. So get on into the bait stores and sign up!! It runs through June 25, 2023. All money collected in registrations is paid out to to first, second and third place prizes for striped bass and first place prize for bluefish. And don’t forget to also sign up for our Jingles In-Store tournament for $10.
Today we have surf clams! Bloodworms coming this morning.
