It’s a bit hazy sunny, and a bit windy morning here in Beach Haven today. Winds are from the SSW at about 14mph. Currently, the surf is calm with with 1-2 foot waves, coming in frequently. You will need 3-4 oz to hold. LBI 5th Street Beach Haven sea temperature is 48°. The air temp is currently 52° and heading to 57°.
The bay has a slight chop and 50°.
Low tide is at 1:26AM and 1:51PM. High tide is at 7:30AM and 7:56PM.
We had a striper weigh-in yesterday – April 3rd!! Corey Perich was fishing in the surf here in Beach Haven using salted clam when he reeled in a 14.98lb, 35.75″ striped bass! This was a non-tournament weigh in. Bass are also being caught in the bay – under the bridge and by the sod banks. Bloodworms are the bait of choice or small plugs.
Don’t forget to sign up for the 21st Annual Spring Derby! It’s $20 to enter and goes through June 25, 2023. All money collected in registrations is paid out to to first, second and third place prizes for striped bass and first place prize for bluefish.
