It’s a beautiful, sunny, hot morning here in Beach Haven to start the Labor Day Weekend! The wind right now is coming from the WNW at about 8mph. (And those black flies are out there!!) Currently the surf is calm with 1-2 foot waves. You will need about 3-4oz to hold. Beach Haven water temp is about 75°. The air temp is currently 78° and heading to 86°.
The bay is a little choppy and 77.7°.
Low tide is at 7:32AM and 8:58PM. High tide is at 1:36AM and 2:03PM.
We have a new lead in the Jingles Store Fluke Tournament with Pat Norton’s doormat – 7.80# and 26 7/8″!! His bait was gulp and he was in the inlet… So that’s the third doormat we have seen that was not even taken out in the ocean! The fluke fishing has still been very active, but you still have to pick through all those shorts to come up with your keepers. On the surf, Jon had another successful morning – again working his way through a bunch of shorts and then coming up with this 20″ keeper! The surf also has kingfish and starting to hear of some bigger bluefish too!.
The 72rd Annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic has started and there are weigh-ins already! Here at Jingles, Derek weighed in a 2.15# and 18.5″ fluke caught off the surf using gulp. You can win money and prizes on fluke, kingfish, weakfish, red drum, tautog, striped bass and bluefish!
