It’s a mostly sunny day here Beach Haven. Chance of storms coming through in the middle of the day but otherwise its a great morning. Right now the wind is mild coming from the SSE at about 3mph. This morning, the surf is relatively calm with 2-3 foot waves. You will need about 4-5oz to hold. Beach Haven water temp is 57°. The air temp is currently 60° and heading to 65°.
The bay is flat calm and 62.6°.
Low tide is at 5:06AM and 4:50PM. High tide is at 10:58AM and 10:58PM.
Still many reports of striped bass, bluefish and black drum in the surf! Anglers are also picking up a few keeper fluke in the surf as well. The Spring Derby has had a couple big blues just weighed in – one with bunker and one with mullet. And now is the time to get those black drum – we weighed in a couple this week and Brendan Osler got a big one off his boat yesterday. The time is right to be fishing on the beach! Anglers also picking out some nice fluke in the back bay.
The Jingles In-store Spring tournaments are up and running – One for striped bass and bluefish with coincides with the Spring Derby. The second is our season long fluke tournament – prizes to fifth place! Just stop in to shop to register – Both are $10 to enter!
And before you get out there and catch that keeper bass – don’t forget to register for the 23rd Annual LBI Spring Derby! Fee is $20 and you can register at any of the 3 LBI tackle shops (Jingles, Surf City Bait & Tackle and Fishermans Headquarters). The tournament is for biggest striped bass and bluefish. There is also a Catch & Release prize for striped bass over the slot limit. The Spring Derby runs through June 22nd so you have plenty of time to catch that winning striper or bluefish!
