We have a report from Saturday night – Danyaal caught this keeper striped bass – 28.5″ on Saturday night off the surf on the south end of the island. He was using surf clams. He also found an entire mantiss shrimp on the belly of the bass. There have been reports in the bay mostly but we should be seeing more off the surf now. Over the weekend Rob caught this monster Tog – 20″ up at the lighthouse using green crabs. Tog is open until the end of the month, with 4 fish per.
The 23rd Annual LBI Spring Derby is underway – running until June 22nd. It is $20 to register and you can register at any of the 3 LBI tackle shops (Jingles, Surf City Bait & Tackle and Fishermans Headquarters). The tournament is for striped bass and bluefish and there is also a Catch & Release prize for striped bass over the slot limit.
