It’s an amazing, warm, sunny September morning here in Beach Haven – It’s going to be a beautiful day!! The wind is mild this morning coming from the WNW at about 6mph. Currently the surf is calm with 2-3 foot waves. You will need about 3-4oz to hold. Beach Haven water temp is 71.2°. The air temp is currently 67° and heading to 80°.
The bay is calm and 68.7°.
Low tide is at 12:42AM and 12:49PM. High tide is at 6:45AM and 7:01PM.
The surf still has bluefish, kingfish and fluke. And we are starting to see a random striper here and there. The 71st LBI Surf Classic has had the variety of weigh-ins, and here at the store we had Emmett Fitzgerald with a striped bass caught up at Barnegat Light using a lure. Emmett’s striper was 8.64# and 29.5″. And earlier in the week Pat Conti had a kingfish for the derby. As for fishing not on the surf – Drew reported some blowfish out back and Liz Copeland caught a nice 19″ fluke in the inlet yesterday using minnows. There is ONE more week for fluke fishing so let’s get out on the beautiful weekend so we can see more fluke weigh-ins!
The Miss Beach Haven is running a Fluke Mania trip for the LAST day of fluke fishing, next Thursday, Sept. 25th. They will have prizes, food, drinks and plenty of fun! Book online at www.missbeachhaven.com.
