The surf is starting to pick up and we have our first report of a bluefish! The American Angler surf fishing tournament this weekend had a 23+” bluefish caught on mullet. Also seeing reports that the big blues have hit Brigantine so we should start seeing more and more! Striped bass continue to be reported off the surf so thing are starting to heat up. Tog has just three more days – so come get some green crabs and get up to the lighthouse where they have been catching them up.
The 23rd Annual LBI Spring Derby is underway – running until June 22nd. It is $20 to register and you can register at any of the 3 LBI tackle shops (Jingles, Surf City Bait & Tackle and Fishermans Headquarters). The tournament is for striped bass and bluefish and there is also a Catch & Release prize for striped bass over the slot limit.
