Good Friday is here and it’s a beautiful sunny morning here in Beach Haven! Right now the wind is MILD coming from the SSW at about 4mph. Currently, the surf is flat calm with with 0-1 foot waves. You will need about 3-4oz to hold. Beach Haven water temp is 46.2°. The air temp is currently 50° and heading to 61°.
The bay is calm and 47.5°.
Low tide is at 6:00AM and 5:41PM. High tide is at 12:03PM.
The surf has been calm all week with a few people trying to pick up some stripers but no bites so far. This time last year we were weighing in some fish so they should be out there soon. In the bay and by the lighthouse they are catching striped bass and tog. Striped bass bait of choice in the bay is bloodworms and tog would be green crabs or sand fleas. Tog is open until the end of the month, with 4 fish per.
The 23rd Annual LBI Spring Derby is underway – running until June 22nd. It is $20 to register and you can register at any of the 3 LBI tackle shops (Jingles, Surf City Bait & Tackle and Fishermans Headquarters). The tournament is for striped bass and bluefish and there is also a Catch & Release prize for striped bass over the slot limit.
